Rabindranath Tagore, the first Asian Nobel Prize Laureate in Literature, had deep respect for Jesus and had written poems inspired by Jesus.

Though not of Christian origin, this Rabindra Sangeet (রবীন্দ্র সঙ্গীত) fits the Christian context, and is used in Christian worship (example 1 , example 2).

যা কিছু পায় হারায়ে যায়
না মানে সান্ত্বনা

they travel anxiously.

মরীচিকা ধরিতে চায়
এ মরুপ্রান্তরে

They want to grasp the mirage
in this arid desert.

ফুরায় বেলা
ফুরায় খেলা
সন্ধ্যা হয়ে আসে

( Phuray bêla,

shôndha hôye ashe. )
Time runs out,
game ends,
evening comes to a close.

কাঁদে তখন আকুল মন
কাঁপে তরাসে

( Kande tôkhôn akulô môn,
kanpe tôrashe. )
Then the distraught minds cry,
they tremble in fear.

বিশ্বপতি
শান্তি কোথা আছে
