Lyrics
Verse 1 (Psalm 1:1a):
Μακάριος ἀνὴρ
ὃς οὐκ ἐπορεύθη
ἐν βουλῇ ἀσεβῶν
( Makarios anir
os uk eporefthi
en vuli asevon. )
Blessed (and happy) is the man
who did not walk
in the counsel of the ungodly.
Ἀλληλούϊα
( Alliluya )
Alleluia
Verse 2 (Psalm 1:1b):
Καὶ ἐν ὁδῷ ἁμαρτωλῶν
οὐκ ἔστη
καὶ ἐπὶ καθέδρᾳ λοιμῶν
οὐκ ἐκάθισεν
( Ke en odo amartolon
uk esti,
ke epi kathedra lymon
uk ekathisen. )
Neither did he stand
inside the path of sinners,
nor did he sit
on the seat of troublemakers.
Ἀλληλούϊα
( Alliluya )
Alleluia
Verse 3 (Psalm 1:2):
( All’ i en to nomo Kyriu
to thelima aftu,
ke en to nomo Aftu meletisi
imeras ke nyktos. )
But rather in law of the LORD
is his desire,
and on His law he will meditate
day and night.
Ἀλληλούϊα
( Alliluya )
Alleluia
Verse 4 (Psalm 1:3a):
Καὶ ἔσται ὡς τὸ ξύλον
τὸ πεφυτευμένον
παρὰ τὰς διεξόδους τῶν ὑδάτων
( Ke este os to xylon
to pefytevmenon
para tas diexodus ton ydaton, )
And he will be like the tree
that has been planted
beside the outlets of the waters,
Ἀλληλούϊα
( Alliluya )
Alleluia
Verse 5 (Psalm 1:3b):
ὃ τὸν καρπὸν αὐτοῦ δώσει
ἐν καιρῷ αὐτοῦ
καὶ τὸ φύλλον αὐτοῦ
οὐκ ἀποῤῥυήσεται
( o ton karpon aftu dosi
en kero aftu
ke to fyllon aftu
uk aporriyisete. )
which will give its fruit
in its season,
and its leaf
will not fall away.
Ἀλληλούϊα
( Alliluya )
Alleluia
Verse 6 (Psalm 1:3c):
Καὶ πάντα
ὅσα ἂν ποιῇ
κατευοδωθήσεται
( Ke panta,
osa an piyi,
katevodothisete. )
And all things,
as much as he may do,
he will prosper.
Ἀλληλούϊα
( Alliluya )
Alleluia
Verse 7 (Psalm 1:4a):
Οὐχ οὕτως οἱ ἀσεβεῖς
οὐχ οὕτως
( Ukh utos y asevis,
ukh utos, )
Not so the ungodly,
not so,
Ἀλληλούϊα
( Alliluya )
Alleluia
Verse 8 (Psalm 1:4b):
ἀλλʼ ἢ ὡσεὶ χνοῦς
ὃν ἐκρίπτει ὁ ἄνεμος
ἀπὸ προσώπου τῆς γῆς
( all’ i osi khnus
on ekripti o anemos
apo prosopu tis gis. )
but rather like the chaff
that the wind drives away
from the face of earth.
Ἀλληλούϊα
( Alliluya )
Alleluia
Verse 9 (Psalm 1:5):
Διὰ τοῦτο οὐκ ἀναστήσονται
ἀσεβεῖς ἐν κρίσει
οὐδὲ ἁμαρτωλοὶ
ἐν βουλῇ δικαίων
( Dia tuto uk anastisonte
asevis en krisi,
ude amartoly
en vuli dikeon. )
Through this the ungodly
will not rise in the judgment,
and neither the sinners
in the counsel of the righteous.
Ἀλληλούϊα
( Alliluya )
Alleluia
Verse 10 (Psalm 1:6):
Ὅτι γινώσκει Κύριος
ὁδὸν δικαίων
καὶ ὁδὸς ἀσεβῶν ἀπολεῖται
( Oti ginoski Kyrios
odon dikeon
ke odos asevon apolite. )
Because the LORD knows
the path of the righteous,
and the path of the ungodly will perish.
Ἀλληλούϊα
( Alliluya )
Alleluia
