Rabindra Sangeet as Christian Song
Rabindranath Tagore, the first Asian Nobel Prize Laureate in Literature, had deep respect for Jesus and had written poems inspired by Jesus.
The English version of this song is listed as poem 56 in Gitanjali (“Song Offerings” in English), the collection of poems with which Tagore won the 1913 Nobel Prize. Tagore had quoted the opening lines of this song in his essay titled “Christ Festival” (খৃষ্টোৎসব in Bengali).
This Rabindra Sangeet (রবীন্দ্র সঙ্গীত) is listed as hymn 20 in the Bengali Christian hymnal book titled “Khrishta Sangeet” (2nd edition published in 1929).
